A lot of people and even Christians mind you, can’t exactly tell how and why exactly accepting Jesus is the best thing that could happen to a person in this life. It is the best deal you could ever get.
Who is Jesus?, why should I accept Jesus?, what does accepting Jesus give me?, How do I accept Jesus? What happens next after I accept Jesus?.
This Salvation Proposal will cover these questions.
- Presentation of the stakeholders
Salvation is entirely God’s idea. After the fall of Adam, man was by default born into this world in sin. This means all men from Adam have the sin nature in them. From that very moment in the garden, God announced the salvation of Mankind through the seed of the woman in order to restore Mankind.
When we talk about Salvation, the entire GODHEAD is involved in the redemption of Mankind.
- The Father from the beginning purposed the salvation of Mankind and sought for men through which His will could find expression. He built a covenant with Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Israel as a whole and all this was to set the stage for the coming of His Son, our Saviour Jesus.
John 3:16,17 (KJV) – “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”
- The Son of God, Jesus-Christ came to restore and correct was was lost through Adam. He is the Son of God because He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin.
Luke 1:35 (NKJV) – “And the angel answered and said to her, The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.”
Remember I talked about the Father and His covenant with Israel?, Jesus came to accomplish the law (no other man could) and fulfill the perfect sacrifice which was foreshadowed by the sacrifice of animals in ancient times. Jesus is the perfect sacrifice because He is the second Adam (originates directly from God).
If it took Adam to plunge Mankind in sin, it had to take another Adam to save Mankind from sin.
Luke 19:10 (KJV) – “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
- The Holy Spirit played and still plays various roles in our salvation process. However, I would like to focus on His direct role in the life of the person being saved. When you read or hear about Jesus and salvation, the Holy Spirit convicts you and leads you to repentence.
John 16:8 (KJV) – “And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment”
When you finally accept and confess Jesus as your savior, the Holy Spirit comes and live in your Spirit. He is your gift at salvation, you are saved only if the Holy Spirit dwells in you. You are sealed by the Holy Spirit at salvation, like a stamp or seal which says “saved and approved ”. This is what we call the New Birth experience attesting that your spirit has been recreated and is now one with Jesus.
John 3:3-6 (KJV) – “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?. Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”
Ephesians 1:13 (KJV) – “In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise.”
- You are the very object of God’s love, affection, attention and redemption plan. Only Humans who are Spirit with a Soul living in a Body can be saved and this is for every human, as many as can believe. Your human nature is the qualification required for you to be eligible for salvation.
Romans 10:13 (KJV) – “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
- Problem Summary
Imagine a life where you were born completely united to God by closeness, nature, character righteousness, and eternal life that would be amazing and that is exactly what Adam had before He disobeyed. If you don’t understand what I previously said, I meant a life where you are so close to God you can hear Him speak to you like a man, a life where you are free from every sin, guilt, shame, in fact a life where you are completely perfect. Yes, that is what the Human race lost with Adam.
Romans 3:23 – “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
Separated and enemies of God is what we are when we are born into this World.
In the book of Genesis, Adam had the luxury to be visited by God everyday and have conversations with Him. You will agree with me that this looks nothing like the life of the average Human unfortunately. God had warned Adam that the day he would eat of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil he would die. Adam didn’t physically die but he did die spiritually. I encourage you to read GENESIS 3 (you will enjoy it trust me 🙂 ). In this chapter we see Adam and his wife hide when they hear God because of fear. They had never experienced fear before they became aware of their nakedness and of sin. The result of their spiritual death is that they became dominated by their physical and natural senses as opposed to before where they could relate to God with their spiritual senses because God is Spirit.
With sin did not only come a separation from God but it also gave room to hardship, sickness and poverty. These were never the intention of God for Man.
Genesis 3:16-19 (KJV) – “Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.”
- Proposed Solution:
The not so bad news is that since Adam committed the sin which all led us into decadence, God doesn’t hold you accountable for being born with this sin nature and has provided a way of escape for all of us.
In the same vein, the good news is that God took it upon Himself to provide the solution for you and I.
Luke 5:31,32 (KJV) – “And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
John 10:10 (KJV) – “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
Romans 5:10 (KJV) – “For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.”
Hebrews 4:16 (KJV) – “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”
When you accept Jesus as your Saviour and Lord, you receive a full package. First your sins (past, present and future) are forgiven , second you receive the gift of rigteousness (the ability to stand in the presence of the Father God without the sense of guilt or inferiority – E.W Kenyon)and third you receive eternal life (the very life of God – Zoe; through the Holy Spirit who comes and dwell in you).
Let me break down a few things so you understand how massive and complete this package is. The forgiveness of sins doesn’t only separate you from the appetite for evil but it exempts you from all the consequences of sin which are separation from God, eternal damnation, curses, sickness and even poverty. The gift of rigteousness means that you don’t have to deserve perfection before God in your own strength, the rigteousness is given to you by Jesus so you can wear it like a robe. At new birth, your spirit is recreated and perfect but your soul is not so you will probably make mistakes while God transforms you progressively as you allow Him to do that. The gift of rigteousness removes the pressure to be perfect and perform from your shoulders because when God sees you, He sees Jesus’ perfection. The gift of eternal life is your spirit being one with God and you having the God kind of life, a life which lacks nothing. In reality, every human has eternal life but where you will spend eternity is the major difference. When you are saved, you get to spend eternity with God. If you are not yet wowed by this wait until you find out the kind of eternal life God has prepared for those who belong to Him (keep an eye on the upcoming posts 😉 ).
2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV) – “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
1 Peter 2:24 (KJV) – “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”
2 Corinthians 8:9 (KJV) – “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.”
Romans 10:4 (KJV) – “For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.”
Romans 6:23 (KJV) – “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
- Pricing Information
Salvation is a free gift from God to us but it cost Jesus His life. It can not be gotten by our own strength but only through Jesus’ sacrifice.
Romans 3:24 (KJV) – “Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:”
Ephesians 2:8,9 (KJV) – “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
- Conclusion
Everybody can be saved and God wants everybody to be saved. Everybody has eternal life because we are all spirit beings (and spirits don’t die) but the location and the quality of the eternal life is what matters. If you are not saved during your life on earth, judgement awaits you, not because you have lived as the worse sinner but because you didn’t accept God’s free gift of salvation.
We often plan our lives and future on this earth (retirement plan, health insurance, holidays, birthdays, some even have a life insurance to protect their loved ones when they are gone), it’s time we have an eternity plan and an eternity insurance through salvation for when we leave this world. Eternity is a long time so we should prepare for it.
1 Timothy 2:3,4 (KJV) – “For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.”

Salvation Prayer (Please say it out loud wherever you are): - Romans 10:9,10
Lord Jesus, I recognize that you are the Son of God, that you came on earth, died for my sins on the cross, resurrected on the third day and You are now seated at the right hand of God the Father. I acknowledge that I cannot be righteous by my self and accept the righteousness purchased by your precious blood on the cross for me. I proclaim that by this I have now defeated Satan, hell and the grave. I ask you Lord Jesus to fill me with your Holy Spirit now.
Congratulations brethren and welcome to God’s family!
